JEE Main Cutoff to Qualify for JEE (Advanced)
Official NTA cutoff percentiles (NTA scores) for the top 2,50,000 candidates eligible for JEE (Advanced). These are the latest two years; the 2027 cutoffs will be published with the 2027 result.
| Category | 2026 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| General (UR) | 93.4123549 | 93.1023262 |
| Gen-EWS | 82.4164528 | 80.3830119 |
| OBC-NCL | 80.9232583 | 79.4313582 |
| SC | 63.9172792 | 61.1526933 |
| ST | 52.0174712 | 47.9026465 |
| UR-PwD | 0.0023186 | 0.0079349 |
These cutoffs decide eligibility for JEE (Advanced) only. NIT, IIIT and GFTI admission depends on JoSAA opening and closing ranks for each institute and branch. NTA does not publish a marks-to-percentile table, because the same marks can give different percentiles in different shifts.

JEE Main 2027 — Frequently Asked Questions
When is the JEE Main 2027 exam?
NTA's examination calendar of 16 September 2026 gives tentative Session 1 dates of 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 January 2027, with 31 January as a buffer day. Session 2 dates have not been announced yet; in 2026, Session 2 was held on 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 April. Confirm the final dates on jeemain.nta.nic.in when the 2027 bulletin is released.
What is the eligibility for JEE Main 2027?
The 2027 bulletin is not out yet. Under the 2026 bulletin there is no age limit, and you can appear in the year you pass Class 12 and the two years after. For B.E./B.Tech admission at NITs, IIITs and CFTIs, Class 12 must include Physics, Mathematics and a language plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or a technical vocational subject, and you need 75% aggregate (65% for SC, ST and PwD) or a top-20-percentile place in your board.
What is the JEE Main exam pattern?
Under the 2026 bulletin, JEE Main Paper 1 is a 3-hour computer-based test with 75 questions — 25 each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical value questions per subject) — for 300 marks. A correct answer gets +4 and a wrong answer −1 in both question types; unattempted questions get 0.
How many times can I take JEE Main?
JEE Main is held in two sessions a year, usually January and April. You can appear in both, and the better of your two NTA scores is used. You can attempt it in the year you pass Class 12 and the two following years, so up to six sessions in total.
What was the JEE Main 2026 cutoff for JEE Advanced?
According to NTA's result notice of 20 April 2026, the cutoff percentiles to qualify for JEE (Advanced) 2026 were: General 93.4123549, Gen-EWS 82.4164528, OBC-NCL 80.9232583, SC 63.9172792 and ST 52.0174712. The 2027 cutoffs will be published with the 2027 result.
How do I register for JEE Main 2027?
Registration is done online on jeemain.nta.nic.in once NTA releases the 2027 information bulletin: create an account, fill in personal and academic details, upload your photograph, signature and any category certificate, and pay the fee shown in the bulletin. For JEE Main 2026, Session 1 registration ran from 31 October to 27 November 2025.
What is the difference between JEE Main and JEE Advanced?
JEE Main, conducted by NTA, is used for admission to NITs, IIITs and other GFTIs through JoSAA. JEE (Advanced), conducted by one of the IITs, is used for admission to the IITs, and only the top 2,50,000 JEE Main candidates across categories can sit it.
What are the best books for JEE Main preparation?
Start with the NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks for all three subjects. Widely used additions are H.C. Verma's Concepts of Physics, N. Avasthi or O.P. Tandon for Physical Chemistry, J.D. Lee for Inorganic Chemistry and Cengage or R.D. Sharma for Mathematics, followed by previous year questions. See our best books for JEE guide for a subject-wise list.
