NEET 2027: has the bulletin been released?#
As of 7 October 2026, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not released the NEET (UG) 2027 information bulletin, and there are no NEET 2027 notices on nta.ac.in (opens in a new tab) or neet.nta.nic.in (opens in a new tab). Everything on this page is taken from the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin and is labelled as such. Rules can change from year to year, so read the 2027 bulletin as soon as it is published.
Minimum age and upper age limit#
The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin says a candidate must have "completed the age of 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year that the candidate shall be appearing for NEET-UG examination". This wording comes from the National Medical Commission's Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023, as amended by an NMC corrigendum in June 2023.
For example, a student who takes the exam in 2027 must turn 17 on or before 31 December 2027, which means being born on or before 31 December 2010, if the 2027 bulletin keeps the same rule.
On the maximum age, the 2026 bulletin states plainly: "There is no upper age limit."
Number of attempts#
We found no limit on the number of attempts in the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin. As long as you meet the age and qualifying-exam rules, you can appear again in a later year. Check the 2027 bulletin to confirm this has not changed.
Class 12 subjects and marks#
Subjects you must have studied
The 2026 bulletin requires that you passed Class 12 (or an equivalent exam) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English. It lists qualifying-exam codes 01 to 07, covering Class 12 board exams, intermediate science, pre-medical exams and certain degree-level routes.
Two points matter for many students:
- Appearing in Class 12: Students who are writing their Class 12 exam in the same year can register (code 01). They must have passed by the time admission rules require, as explained in the bulletin.
- Biology as an additional subject: Following a National Medical Commission decision of 14 June 2023, the bulletin allows candidates who studied the required subjects, including Biology/Biotechnology, as additional subjects after Class 12 from a recognised board.
If you studied through an open school or as a private candidate, read the qualifying-code notes in the bulletin carefully and confirm your status with NTA before you apply.
12 percentage required for NEET
The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin does not list a category-wise Class 12 percentage. It says eligibility for NEET is provisional and subject to the criteria prescribed by the NMC and the other regulators and ministries named in the bulletin. If a minimum Class 12 aggregate applies to the seats you want, take the exact figure for your category from those rules and from the counselling body you will use, such as the MCC UG medical counselling (opens in a new tab) information for All India Quota seats or your state prospectus. Do not rely on a percentage quoted on a coaching site without checking it there.
Category rules: NEET qualifying percentile#
To be eligible for admission you must also reach the qualifying percentile in NEET itself. In the NEET (UG) 2025 and 2026 results, the qualifying levels were:
| Category | Qualifying percentile (2025 and 2026 results) |
|---|---|
| General / EWS | 50th percentile |
| OBC, SC, ST | 40th percentile |
| General / EWS with PwBD | 45th percentile |
| OBC, SC, ST with PwBD | 40th percentile |
The marks that match these percentiles change every year. In the 2026 result, the General/EWS range began at 213 marks, and in 2025 at 144. See NEET marks vs rank for the full category-wise score ranges.
The bulletin also lists the central reservation for All India Quota seats: 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 27% OBC-NCL, 10% GEN-EWS, and 5% horizontal reservation for persons with benchmark disability in each category. State quota seats follow each state's own reservation rules.
